augmenting STUDENTS’ LEARNING FOR EMPLOYABILITY THROUGH POST-PRACTICUM EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES
The project’s central goal is to identify how educational interventions can augment students’ practicum experiences in developing the capacities required for effective transition to employment upon graduation. Given the significant resources expended on securing students’ work experiences across all kinds of university programs, this project has direct relevance to and utility across Australian higher education. The project will systematically evaluate the provision of post-practicum interventions, build capacity for and commitments and enact them these interventions across a range of disciplines and in 10 Australian universities.
The project has three stages: |
stage oneStage One engaged university and work-based educators from healthcare in a Dialogue Forum. This forum was held at Griffith University’s Gold Coast Campus in February 2016. More information can be found on the Dialogue Forum tab.
STAGE twoIn Stage Two, the project team with colleagues in their universities will trial, evaluate and refine these processes over two teaching periods, progressively sharing their processes and findings over a 12 month period.
|
STAGE threeIn Stage Three, the project team will reconvene at the Developmental Conference to collectively share and evaluate their processes and outcomes. To be held at Griffith University’s Gold Coast Campus in February 2017, the team will be joined by 30 participants from a range of disciplines outside of healthcare and from 10 other universities. Working collaboratively, both groups will identify key principles and practices for these educational interventions. More information can be found on the Developmental Conference tab. Stage Four will see the participants practicing and refining these interventions, whilst engaging others to implement and appraise these processes over a two year period.
